I was born in Caracas and I've lived in Massachusetts since 2015 — Somerville first, Medford now. I started painting around 2022 and never really slowed down.
I call the work Tropical Punk. Macaws, tigers, bullriders and the Venezuelan tricolor on one side; the Green Line trolley, the Commuter Rail and a Bruins bear on the other. Both places are home, so they end up on the same canvas. The method comes from punk and gig flyers: acrylic first — a ground, marker strokes, texture — then the figure cut from vinyl and ironed on top. Fast, loud, one of one.
Every print in this store starts as one of those paintings. It gets scanned straight off the canvas, so the marker strokes and the vinyl edges survive, and it's made only when you order it.
La Hacienda is the studio I founded in 2023 — the name on the door for everything I make, this store included. The prints themselves are produced to order by a print partner at the facility closest to you, from my scans, so nothing gets made twice and nothing gets made for nobody.
Nací en Caracas y vivo en Massachusetts desde 2015 — primero en Somerville, ahora en Medford. Empecé a pintar alrededor de 2022 y no he parado.
A la obra la llamo Tropical Punk. Guacamayas, tigres, jinetes de toro y el tricolor venezolano de un lado; el trolebús de la Green Line, el tren de pasajeros y un oso de los Bruins del otro. Los dos lugares son casa, así que terminan en el mismo lienzo. El método viene del punk y de los afiches de conciertos: primero el acrílico — un fondo, trazos de marcador, textura — y después la figura cortada en vinil y planchada encima. Rápido, fuerte, pieza única.
Cada impresión de esta tienda nace de una de esas pinturas. Se escanea directo del lienzo, así que los trazos de marcador y los bordes del vinil sobreviven, y se fabrica solo cuando la pides.
La Hacienda es el estudio que fundé en 2023 — el nombre en la puerta de todo lo que hago, esta tienda incluida. Las impresiones las produce bajo pedido un taller aliado, en la planta más cercana a ti y a partir de mis escaneos, así que nada se hace dos veces ni se hace para nadie.
